An early morning start was rewarded when 2 MALE TAWNY OWLS were heard calling to the East of the Blue Bird Park, Hunnington. One was close to the road with the other one calling from further out to the East.
A SISKIN was heard once again at dawn near Gorse Farm House just North of the Holly Bush pub
The fog that had moved in was restricting visability to about 50 yards, somewhat defeating the aim of the early arrival at Moorhall Farm, namely counts of birds at roost sites. Canada geese could be heard heading South from the pools, but could not be seen at all.
Conditions improved significantly with 45 minutes. c60 linnet passed South over the farm, and a Grey Wagtail headed SW.
On the main pool 2 pairs of WIGEON, 2 male and a female TUFTED DUCK, a pair of GADWALL c10 Coot and a Moorhen were noted.
A CORMORANT lifted off the main pool and flew in a wide circle of the area before heading East.
A female Kestrel was hunting along the farm Lane and adjacent fields.
A mixed flock of 30+ Redwing 5+ Fieldfare and finches (mainly Goldfinch) were to the West of the Farm, and a Yellowhammer was heard calling amongst them.
10 Chaffinch flew NW over.
On Shut Mill Lane A Coal Tit was calling as were Goldcrest and Great Spotted Woodpecker along the cattle grid track from the farm..
A Song Thrush was singing at Oakdale/Sut Coppis and a Mistle Thrush was also singing near Shut mill Lane pool and brook. A Nuthatch was calling nearby and a Song Thrush was in an Alder by Ferndale Cottage at the North end of the Lane.
On Rumbow Lane, a party of Long tailed Tits were on the feeders and Coal Tits and Nuthatch were calling nearby. A Nuthatch was calling at Spring Lane Junction with a Raven honking to the East.
Nuthatch, 2 Jays and a calling Raven were noted at the end of Walton Hill Lane by the derelict buildings.
House Sparrows were noted at the Uplands with 15+ noted at Fox Farm.
The South East fringe of Uffmoor wood yielded Bullfinch and Great Spotted Woodpecker and on the fishing pool, 9 Mallard and 9 Canada Geese were present.
A pair of Mistle Thrush were in the Cattle field just North of the fisheries and at the Stables by the driving range a Raven was heard calling to the East, presumably near the Blue Bird Park, a personal first for this location. A Great Spotted Woodpecker was in the wood alongside the fields leading to Manor Way, where a Mistle Thrush was singing.
A Nuthatch was calling from near the Cricket Club by the brook.
